[LBPD release text] -- On Saturday, August 6, 2016, at approx. 10:20 p.m., officers were dispatched to a shooting in the area of 9th Street and Locust Avenue, which resulted in the death of a woman and her daughter.

When officers arrived, they located two females who had been struck by gunfire. The adult victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by Long Beach Fire Department personnel. The second victim, a 4-year-old girl, was transported to a local hospital in critical condition and was pronounced deceased early this morning.

The victims, who were mother and daughter, have been identified as 26-year-old Carina Mancera and 4-year-old Jennabel Anaya of Long Beach.
