(Aug. 30, 2018. 6:15 p.m.) -- A man was shot and wounded in broad daylight at midmorning today (Aug. 30) in the busy 5300 block of LB Blvd. south of Market St. (8th district.)

LBPD Public Information Officer Nancy Pratt tells LBREPORT.com:

  • On 8/30/18 at roughly 10:10 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 5300 block of Long Beach Blvd. regarding a shooting
  • When officers arrived, they found a man (adult) who'd been struck in the torso by gunfire
  • LBFD paramedics transported the victim to a hospital with what appeared to be a non-life threatening injury
  • LBPD's preliminary investigation indicates the victim was standing in a walkway (adjacent to a building) when he was shot by an unknown person, and the victim then went to a nearby business to seek help and call 9-1-1

There's no suspect information immediately available and LBPD asks anyone with information regarding what took place to contact its Gang Enforcement Section at (562) 570-7370.
