(Feb. 19, 2015) -- LBPD officers (including a K9 officer) converged on a medical professional building in the 2800 block of Atlantic Ave. (adjacent to LB Memorial Hospital) before dawn today (Feb. 19), and for a time blocked traffic on Atlantic Ave., as they searched for, located and successfully apprehended a commercial burglary suspect.

At roughly 4:00 a.m. today (Feb. 19), officers responded to a burglary in progress at a pharmacy in the 2800 block of Atlantic Ave. As officers were establishing a perimeter, the suspect exited the building...and then ran back inside.
Officers requested the assistance of a K9 officer; a search was conducted...
...and the suspect was located and taken into custody. The suspect was transported to the hospital "for treatment of minor injuries as a result of contact with the K9 officer" and then released for booking, PIO Pratt says. The suspect is a 21 year old Long Beach man, booked on suspcion of residential burglary and resisting arrest..
