(Feb. 13, 2015) -- LB Airport says five U.S. Marine Corps F/A-18 aircraft will be conducting training operations from Friday, February 13 through Tuesday, February 17. They're significantly louder than aircraft typically operating at the Airport and the Airport says they're expected to operate only between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

"Due to the unique nature of their mission, these aircraft are exempt from noise regulation; however, the military has demonstrated a desire to assist us in being a good neighbor and they have been very responsive to community concerns within their mission and safety of flight constraints. The aircraft will use noise abatement procedures when operating in the vicinity of Long Beach. These procedures include modified arrival and departure flight profiles and minimum use of afterburners," says LGB in an advisory email.
