(Feb. 28, 2016, 7:10 p.m.) -- A man was found shot to death in the predawn hours today (Sun. Feb. 28) along a small street north of 10th St. and east of Orange Ave. and LBPD confirms it is currently investigating what took place as a homicide
Initial information is very sketchy. LBPD says that on Sunday, Feb. 28 at 3:24 a.m., LBPD was called to assist LBFD on a call of a dead body in the 1000 block of Norman Court. Officers arrived and found a deceased man (adult) with a gunshot wound to the torso. LBPD says the motive for the shooting is unknown, but it is currently investigating what took place as a homicide. LBPD isn't releasing the victim's identity; the L.A. County Coroner will positively ID the victim and notify the next of kin. No one is in custody and LBPD's investigation is ongoing. |

The grim discovery comes less than 24 hours after Vice Mayor Suja Lowenthal held what she described on her Facebook page as a "10th Street Visioning" process (Feb. 27) and "the final streetscape design that I am completing within the 2nd Council District." Later that day after nightfall (Feb. 27) gunfire hit someone's house (no person was hit) about a block north and 1.3 miles east in the area of 11th St./Ohio Ave. (4th Council district, south of Anaheim St., west of Temple Ave.)
