(February 6, 2017, 6:30 a.m.) -- Flames pierced the roof and sirens pierced the night in LB's Virginia Country Club neighborhood on Sunday (Feb. 5) as fire broke out in a large two story home and required a second alarm seeking additional units to contain and knock down.
LBFD says in a release that a family of four was at home when the blaze broke out in the 4200 block of Country Club Drive and extricated themselves after second floor smoke alarms sounded. LBFD responded at 10:22 p.m. and first arriving units reported "heavy fire and smoke showing through the roof"...and a second alarm was sounded "for additional units and manpower." LBFD says the body of the fire was primarily confined to the attic and extringuised "after an aggressive 50 minute fire attack." Extensive damage to the structire occurred and the family was displaced. LBFD says its investigators were sent to the scene to investigate the origin of the fire which at dawn Monday remains under investigation.
