(Jan. 13, 2014, 10:05 p.m.) -- Using information provided by an alert and savvy in the well organized Lakewood Village Community Watch area, Long Beach police officers arrested two suspects in a residential burglary this morning (Monday Jan. 13), recovered the victim's loss and returned it to the victim/owner.
LBPD Public Information Marlene Arrona says that at about 10:20 a.m., officers responded to the 4600 block of Warwood Rd. regarding aburglary. A resident of the area provided officers with possible suspects' descriptions and information that led officers to the 4200 block of Pepperwood Ave. Officers established a perimeter, detained two subjects, and ultimately arrested Deon Miller, 18, of Long Beach and a female juvenile for alleged residential burglary. A well-informed resident of the Old Lakewood Village Community Watch area tells LBREPORT.com that officers received the information from an alert resident who believed a burglary was in progress on Warwood Rd. and called the cops. Our resident source says (citing information via a third party) that LBPD "showed up very quickly" and was assisted by what looked like an LASD (not LBPD) helicopter and tracked the suspects down. LBPD officers used bullhorns [or their amplified vehicle speakers] to direct the suspects to exit a residence on Pepperwood with their hands up. The suspects did so' they were directed to lie on the ground and were handcuffed and taken into custody. PIO Arrona says the loss included electronics and jerwelry...and those items were recovered and returned to the victim/owner. LBPD's investigation is ongoing. A good outcome for LBPD and the Lakewood Village Community Watch...where residents have experienced their share of property crimes in recent months.
