(Jan. 25, 2015) -- A drive-by shooting took place last night (Sat. Jan. 24) in the neighborhood just west of Santa Fe. Ave. and three blocks south of Spring St. It's the seventh shooting in West Long Beach (that we know about) in eight months...and one of the shootings was fatal.

LBPD Public Information Officer Sgt. Brad Johnson tells LBREPORT.com that on Sat. Jan. 24, LBPD responded at about 8:45 p.m. to the 1800 block of West Columbia St. where a man (adult) was shot. The victim was transported to a hospital with what's described as a
PIO Johnson says it's undetermined at this point if the shooting is gang related; no one is in custody at daybreak Sunday (Jan. 25) ...and LBPD's investigation is ongoing.

The Santa Fe/Spring St. area is in the 7th dist. represented by Councilman Roberto Uranga; one of the WLB shootings (south near PCH) is in the 1st dist. now represented by Councilwoman Lena Gonzales. Both took office on July 15, 2014.
