The Santa Fe/Spring St. area is in the 7th dist. represented by Councilman Roberto Uranga; one of the WLB shootings (south near PCH) is in the 1st dist. now represented by Councilwoman Lena Gonzales. Both took office on July 15, 2014.

On September 2, 2014, Councilmembers Uranga and Gonzalez joined in unanimous Council votes that approved a FY15 budget recommended by Mayor Garcia that didn't restore police officers for taxpayers (roughly 200 officers cut by Council budget votes since Sept. 2009) and eliminated budgeted funding for LBPD's field anti-gang unit (previously 20 officers plus 2 sergeants.)
