Frosty New Year's Morning, Sunny Day And Frosty Fri a.m. Predicted

(Jan. 1, 2015) -- 2015 arrived with Long Beach daybreak temps in the 30s. The KE6JDC private weather station (Palo Verde/Stearns area) dipped to 32.6 degrees before dawn. At about the same time, the Nat'l Weather Service monitor at LGB recorded 37 degrees.

Days will be sunny and in the 60s...with lows in the 30s Friday (Jan 2) morning, with lows in the 40s predicted Sat and Sun.

Below are Friday a.m. forecast lows for LB zip codes. As locals know, shoreline area temps are generally 3-5 degrees warmer than inland LB in winter.

And these are nowhere near what much of the rest of the country is experiencing. See hourly updated wind chill readings across the U.S., courtesy of the Plymouth State College Weather Center in Plymouth, New Hampshire.

The time is in "Z" (UTC), which is eight hours ahead of PST. For example, 21:00Z is 13:00 PST (1 p.m.) LB time. 00:00Z is 16:00 PST (4 p.m.) LB time. And 0200Z is 18:00 PST (6 p.m.) LB time, and so forth.
