(Jan. 4, 2016, update 1:50 p.m.) -- As carried on LBREPORT.com's front page (www.LBREPORT.com), the Wrigley neighborhood saw/heard intense police activity in the aftermidnight-predawn hours today (Jan. 4) -- which included SWAT deployment, a K9 unit, some evacuations and street closures -- in the area of the 2500 block Chestnut/Cedar Ave. LBPD pursued a vehicle with possible robbery suspects, took two into custody immediately, two ran and LBPD found one and arrested him.

But one suspect remained outstanding, creating a dangerous situation as he was possibly armed in the middle of a family residential neighborhood.

Fortunately, responding officers had swiftly put up a containment perimeter and had the suspect contained.

LBPD conducted a methodical, intense search, coordinated with air units, ground units and information processed from the ground. By 6:15 a.m., with the help of a K9 unit, the final suspect was taken into custody.

And LBPD says two firearms were recovered. [Comment: really excellent police teamwork.]

LBPD Public Information Officer Nancy Pratt says events began at about 2:20 a.m. when LBPD responded to a residence in the 3200 block of Chestnut Ave. regarding a burglary. When officers arrived, they saw a vehicle leaving the scene and went into pursuit.

The vehicle stopped in the area of 25th Street & Chestnut Avenue and two of the four male occupants ran off, one of them allegedly armed with a firearm. The two individuals who remained in the vehicle were immediately taken into custody

A third suspect was taken into custody in the backyard of a residence in the 2400 block of Chestnut Avenue
