(July 6, 2014) LBPD Public Information Officer Marlene Arrona tells LBREPORT.com that at about 12:35 a.m. on July 6, officers were dispatched to a report of shots heard in the area of Spring St./Santa Fe Ave. Arriving officers found a man (adult) who sustained a gunshot injury. He was transported to a local hospital with an injury that appeared to be non-life-threatening.

There's no suspect(s) description available at this point...and LBPD's investigation is ongoing.

As previously reported by LBREPORT.com, between Thursday night July 3 shortly before 10:00 p.m. and shortly after 4:00 p.m. on July 4, Long Beach had five shootings. Four were in NLB (including a murder); one was in Central LB (15th/Pine).

The Spring St./Santa Fe area had a shooting just over two months ago. On May 1, at about 8:50 p.m., a 19 year-old man was walking near Santa Fe Ave./Arlington Ave. (three blocks south of Wardlow Rd.) when a male suspect fired shots at him.

The victim was hit and ran to a nearby business for help. LBFD paramedics transported him a hospital with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.

LBPD PIO Pratt says the shooting is being investigated as possibly gang-related.
