In initial information, LBPD Public Information Officer Marlene Arrona tells LBREPORT.com that officers responded to a shots call at about 8:12 a.m., found that rounds struck two residences (PC "246" shootings) and an unoccupied vehicle. The investigation is ongoing. No persons were hit.

The area is within a block of where shots were fired at midmorning May 30 in the 700 block of Rose Ave. at a parked, unoccupied vehicle and roughly two blocks from where a man was stabbed on June 11 in the aera of 8th/Gardenia.

On Mar 24, a store clerk was shot and critically injured in a robbery at a mini-mart on 7th St. between Orange and Cerritos Aves. (LBPD produced a suspect sketch, canvassed the neighborhood with fliers and urged members of the public to come forward with any information they might have; as of today (July 16), that hasn't happened despite an offered reward...and that crime remains unsolved for now.)

The area crime scenes are in the 2nd Council district, whose Councilmember Suja Lowenthal was chosen as Vice Mayor yesterday (July 15) on the first vote of an incoming Council (5-4) supported by Councilmembers Gonzalez, Lowenthal, Price, Mungo and Andrews.
