(July 24, 2015) -- During the July 7 City Council meeting, 5th district Councilmember Stacy Mungo stated that she's a budget director. We know Ms. Mungo works for L.A. County, but weren't sure in exactly what capacity...so we asked L.A. County's spokesperson to let us know for publication. Below is the emailed response received from David Sommers, Director of Countywide Communications, Chief Executive Office for the County of Los Angeles:

Her current duties include assisting the Chief Deputy Assessor with managing the day to day operations of the office by providing expert analysis and recommendations on important budgetary and financial matters; implementing audit recommendations to improve work processes; assisting with major information technology initiatives recently started by the Office; providing critical project management support on a number of special projects assigned by the Chief Deputy Assessor; and managing the Executive Office staff.
Ms. Mungo has been a County employee since October 2005, holding various positions with progressive increases in responsibility and impact. She assumed her current responsibilities with the Assessor's Office on January 1, 2014...
The special assistant position is not a newly created position under Assessor Prang. The positions are included as part of the County Charter. (http://file.lacounty.gov/lac/charter.pdf): [L.A.
