Woman Killed, Man Wounded, In Hellman Neighborhood Shooting

(July 9, 2018, updated with LBPD add'l information) -- A woman (adult) was killed, and a man (adult) was wounded in a Sunday night (July 8) shooting along Hoffman Ave. (south of 10th St. b/w Orange and Walnut Aves.) in LB's Hellman neighborhood (2nd Council district.)

LBPD Public Information Officer Nancy Pratt tells LBREPORT.com that on July 8 at about 11 p.m., officers responded ot the 900 block of Hoffman Ave regarding a shooting and arrived to find a man and woman had been struck by gunfire; LBFD transported them to a hospital; the woman was later pronounced deceased; the man was listed in stable condition.

In a release, LBPD says the woman was 22 (identification pending notification of next of kin); the man is 25; they're both residents of Long Beach

LBPD says a motive remains under investigation [and the release says] the shooting is being investigated as possibly gang related.
