|
(June 14, 2013) -- Three candidates are lining up to vie for the Long Beach School Board seat currently held by Mary Stanton in the 2014 election cycle.
The LBUSD Board seat represented for many years by Ms. Stanton is a "north of 405" district basically encompassing Bixby Knolls, Cal Hts and NLB. Also up in the 2014 election cycle are School Board seats currently represented by John McGinnis (downtown and southern-central LB) and Dianne Craighead (basically eastern half of LB north of 405 and some areas a bit beyond). Further on races in those districts as they develop. A majority of the five member LBUSD School Board approves spending (school programs and budget cuts) and sets policies for schools in Long Beach, Signal Hill, Avalon, parts of Lakewood and beyond.
