The race courses started and ended in the 2500 block of Pacific Ave just south of Willow St. The courses were flat, fast and paved...and took runners through the historic Wrigley Village neighborhood and along the L.A. river bike path.

The events also included a 5k baby jogging stroller race and a 1k tadpole trot start. Over a thousand people turned out to enjoy music, food and friends.

City Auditor Laura Doud opened and ran in the 10k race (remarks seen in 10k race video above). 7th district Councilman James Johnson (accompanied by his twins in a stroller) welcomed racers at the 5k start (and extended a welcome on behalf of 6th dist. Councilman Dee Andrews) seen in 5k video above. p>

Among the community volunteers we saw registering participants and keeping the event running (not a complete list) was Long Beach Community Foundation board president Gavin McKiernan (photo below) who MC'd the events...

...along with boardmembers Annie Greenfeld-Wisner and Karen Hester, with volunteer race-day assistance by veteran NLB Community Advocate Dan Pressburg. Long Beach Government Affairs Specialist Tom Modica also attended the event.

Professional timing was provided by Pacific Coast Race Timing; organizers also had a live music with a rock band and a steel drum band along with a Kids Fun Zone (with bouncehouses and facepainting).
