(June 12, 2014, 7:35 p.m.) -- In response to a CA Public Records Act request submitted "The City does not disclose responses to Requests for Proposals until a contract has been awarded," states the response provided by a representative of the Long Beach City Manager's office. "We can withhold competitive proposals in accordance with section 6255 of the California Government Code, asserting that the public's interest served in not disclosing the proposals during the negotiation process outweighs the public's interest served by disclosure of the documents. During the process of analyzing proposals and subsequently, seeking the City Council's approval, the public is given an opportunity to participate and provide comments," city management's response states. City management has previously indicated that based on its review of the two submitted proposals, it plans to bring forward its recommended choice of a preferred developer/operator at the July 1 City Council meeting at which an outgoing Council majority may take voted action.
