Man Robbed At Gunpoint In Los Altos Residential Neighborhood, 5800 block Los Santos

(Mar. 17, 2011) -- A man was robbed at gunpoint outside a residence in the Los Altos neighborhood south of Stearns St. between Belfllower Blvd. and Woodruff Ave.

LBPD Public Information Officer Lisa Massacani has preliminary information. The robbery took place at about 8:20 p.m. in the 5800 block of Los Santos Dr. and the victim lost what LBPD describes as personal property.

The suspect was armed with a gun and fled on foot. No physical injuries were reported.

The area is in the 4th Council district, just east of the Los Altos shopping center and a few blocks west of the small shopping plaza where LBPD Chief Jim McDonnell spoke to residents about crime issues on February 11.

An election is currently taking place (vote by mail ballots circulating now, polling place day is April 10) in which 4th dist. Councilman O'Donnell is seeking a third term (with a write-in effort under LB's term limits law) against two ballot qualified candidates: Atherton Corridor Neighborhood Ass'n President Daryl Supernaw and retired LBPD Sgt. John Watkins.

Over the past three budget years, City Council majorities (including O'Donnell) have balanced City Hall's budget in part with what Mayor Bob Foster calls "proportional reductions" that have cut roughly 150 budgeted officers (140 in Sept. 09 + 10 (9-0), plus roughly 10 more in Sept. 11 (6-3 Schipske, Gabelich, Neal dissenting).
