(March 10, 2013.) -- A woman died in the predawn hours today (Mar. 10) when -- for some reason unknown to police at this point -- the car in which she was a passenger veered onto a parkway, struck a light pole, sheered off a fire hydrant and struck a traffic signal pole before stopping at Long Beach Blvd./56th St.

Teresa Davis, 46, of Long Beach was pronounced dead at the scene. LBPD says in a release that the 2012 Ford Fusion was being driven by Darrell Childs, 39, of Long Beach, who was transported by LBFD paramedics to a hospital with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries. Charges are pending against him, the release says.

This was a single vehicle collision...and LBPD asks anyone with information about what took place to contact LBPD Accident Investigations Detective Richard Birdsall at (562) 570-7355. Anyone wishing to remain anonymous may call 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), or text TIPLA plus your tip to 274637 (CRIMES), or visit www.LACrimeStoppers.org.
