Wrigley Heights Resident Spots and Reports Suspicious Activity, LB Cops Respond & Arrest Three Residential Burglary Suspects

(Mar. 6, 2014, 5:55 a.m.) -- A Wrigley Heights neighborhood resident spotted suspicious persons possibly casing homes to burglarize on Wednesday morning (Mar. 5); LBPD responded and found them in a backyard, rapidly collared one and took the other two (who ran) into custody with a containment perimeter and air support. All three suspects are from Compton: two adults and one juvenile.

LBPD Public Information Officer Marlene Arrona tells LBREPORT.com that on Mar. 5 at about 9:20 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 500 block of W. 37th St. (north of Wardlow Rd., west of Pacific Ave.) regarding suspicious persons. (The caller indicated the subjects were possibly casing houses to burglarize, PIO Arrona says.)

Arriving officers located the suspects in a backyard in the 600 block of W. 37th St.; officers quickly apprehended one suspect, while the two others fled on foot; containment was set & air support assisted officers in locating the third suspect...and officers determined a residential occurred in the 600 block of W. 37th St.

Darrick Jones and Demorie Coleman, 18, of Compton were booked on suspicion of residential burglary; a 16 year old male from Compton was booked for suspected residential burglary and alleged possession of burglary tools.
