(Mar. 17, 2016, initial report 9:03 p.m.) -- LBREPORT.com unofficially estimates that about 2,000+ residents including in parts of ELB's Los Altos neighborhood extending south to PCH lost power for about an hour on Thursday night.

SCE spokesperson Paul Griffo tells LBREPORT.com that starting at 7:11 p.m., 1,128 customers were affected (and since each customer is an SCE metered account and many households have at least two residents, LBREPORT.com unofficially estimates 2,000+ residents were affected.) Power was restored at 8:13 p.m.

Mr. Griffo says the area affected stretched roughly from Clark Ave. to Bellflower Blvd., and from Abbeyfield St. (southern end of Los Altos shopping center) to PCH. SCE's stated cause: equipment problems.

One LBREPORT.com reader reports near-collisions at the intersection of Bellflower Blvd./Abbeyfield St. (with the traffic light not operational and the area in darkness)...and no LBPD units were on scene to handle traffic.
