(Mar. 9, 2016, 7:15 a.m.) -- As flashed on LBREPORT.com's front page last night (Mar. 8), a fire on the 6th floor of a 16 story residential building in the 600 block of Ocean Blvd. went to a Second Alarm -- bringing 9 engine companies, 3 truck companies, 3 paramedic rescues and 1 basic life support ambulance and a Battalion Chief to the scene.

LBFD Public Information Officer / Capt. Mark Miller tells LBREPORT.com that firefighters got the call at 6:29 p.m.; found heavy fire seen coming form a sixth floor balcony; called for a Second Alarm response; confined the fire to a single apartment unit...and had knockdown by 6:50 p.m.
There were no injuries; three persons were medically assessed on scene but no one was transported to hospitals. Roughly fifteen residents were displaced due to smoke and water damage; the American Red Cross was on scene to assist with accommodations. In total, 59 firefighters responded to execute the swift and safe extinguishment of the fire.
LBFD says the fire's cause is currently unknown and under investigation.
