(May 21, 2015) -- LB Airport says several F/A18 aircraft are scheduled to operate at LGB starting Thurs. morning May 21 and running through the Memorial Day weekend, departing Tuesday morning May 26.

LB Airport says USMC (in trying to be a good neighbor) has [LGB text] "voluntarily suggested that they limit the number of arrivals/departures to/from LGB. Daily training and refueling operations will be conducted at remote airfield(s)."

LB Airport adds:

F/A18 are noticeably louder than other aircraft and are easily heard in neighborhoods near Long Beach Airport. The aircraft will utilize noise abatement procedures when operating in the vicinity of Long Beach. These procedures include modified arrival and departure flight profiles and minimum use of afterburners.
