(May 10, 2018, 12:50 p.m.) -- Persons and entities listed in filed paperwork as supporting a recall effort to oust Councilwoman Jeannine Pearce include (some salient names, not a complete list):

  • Friends of Long Beach ($9,000; PAC sponsored by LB hotel/hospitality interests)
  • Long-time taxpayer/public safety advocate John Deats ($2,000 monetary plus $350 non-monetary contribution)
  • Retired 8th dist. Councilwoman Rae Gabelich ($250)
  • Robert Fox ($1,000), the largest of the recall campaign's first three financial contributors (Aug. 28, 2017), an outspoken opponent of rent control and of city staff's then-proposed Land Use Element density increases. Mr. Fox is now among speculated potential recall election candidates who may choose to try and replace Pearce. (On Jan. 12, 2018, Mr. Fox declined to file paperwork to enter the race against incumbent Mayor Robert Garcia following a filing-deadline-day meeting between the two.)

  • The most recently-filed multi-month cumulated list is here.

Contributors in an effort to keep Councilwoman Pearce (elected in June 2016) in office include (some salient names, not a complete list):

  • Vice Rex Richardson's 2018 Re-Election Campaign Committee ($500, March 29)
  • Erick Verduzco-Vega (Mar. 21, $1,000, owner Stache Bar and [title for identification] a member of LB's Planning Commission (now chair) chosen by Mayor Garcia in July 2015)
  • Long Beach Collective Association ($2,000) [also some individual cannabis related entities]
  • Queensway GP, LLC ($5,000)
  • UFCW [United Food & Comm'l Workers] Local 324 PAC ($2,500)
  • Laborers Int'l Union Local 1309 (non-monetary contribution $451/food for event)

  • The most recently-filed multi-month cumulated list is here.

Both sides now await the results of City Clerk count of the 9,462 raw petition signatures submitted on May 9 and whether the Clerk determines that a sufficient number (6,363) of registered 2nd district voters signed them.

Developing.
