Here's how it works, as described by board member Melissa Keyes: Imagine winning great auction prizes for a quarter. Your entry fee includes a numbered bidding paddle, a light lunch and lots of fun. There's tons of prizes to bid on. Each usually goes for one quarter. If you've put your quarter in the bucket on your table, and they call your number, then you win that prize! A great selection of vendors will be there and if you don't win something that you really like, you can buy it. It's a great way to start your holiday shopping. The non-profit (formerly known as "The Rock Club and Rock for Vets") notes that it's "changed its name but it's mission is the same." As described on its website, its mission is "to create a music education program for At-Risk Youth, Veterans and individuals struggling with social adjustment, and mental health issues by offering music instruction classes to all. Music is a catalyst for healing, rebuilding self confidence and indeed reduces the daily stresses of everyday life. By developing coping skills, compassion, self esteem and communication skills these At-Risk youth and Veterans are able to slowly reenter life...[The organization" is about giving back to those who once faithfully served this country and are now in need our support in putting the pieces of their lives back together."
