(November 10, 2016, 6:55 a.m.) -- Councilwoman Suzie Price plans to have city staff present at her monthly Council district community meeting tonight (Nov. 10, 6 p.m., Seaport Marina Hotel) for what she has described as "an open forum led by city Development Services staff on the Southeast Area Specific Plan (SEASP)."
SEASP is a Council-launched, city staff/consultant advanced proposed rezoning of key portions of SE LB (would replace current SEADIP.) The proposed rezoning has stirred controversy over proposed increased development densities (some higher building heights, intensified commercial and residential uses, traffic impacts, potential wetlands impacts) in areas in and around 2nd/PCH. On September 28, 2016, Councilwoman Price -- who ultimately has a decisionmaking vote on SEASP when it reaches the nine-member policysetting City Council -- said the following about her plans at an event she recently held (her "Midterm Review"): "We're going to approve a SEASP plan that is balanced, at least consider the SEASP option, go through a process that's fair, that's objective, and that allows everyone to be heard." In a mass emailing last night (Nov. 9), Councilwoman Price described tonight's (Nov. 10) meeting as follows: Our monthly meeting has been scheduled for...Thursday, November 10th at 6:00 at the Seaport Marina Hotel. The location of this meeting was chosen specifically for the topic that will be discussed. In addition to an update from me on district and city issues, and an update from the police department, there will also be an open forum led by city Development Services staff on the Southeast Area Specific Plan (SEASP).
