| (Oct. 7, 2013, 6:45 a.m.) -- The contrasts came early in an Candidate Megan Kerr (photo left) said she's endorsed by three of LBUSD's five current School Board members [Jon Meyer, Diana Craighead and Mary Stanton]. Candidate Uduak Ntuk (photo right) said he doesn't expect to have the endorsements of any LBUSD School Board incumbents and urged changes. (Candidate Jeff Price was absent, citing illness.)

Longtime School Board member Mary Stanton is retiring. Board members have equal votes, meaning the choice of BK/CalHts/NLB area voters will affect schools districtwide. (Two other School Board seats will be decided by voters in southern/central LB and ELB in the April 2014 election cycle.)
