(April 26, 2021, 8:40 p.m.) -- Long Beach had three shootings within 24 hours (April 25-26) spanning areas from downtown's Willmore City to NLB to WLB.

LBPD Public Information Officer Brandon Fahey says:

  • April 25 at about 6:30 p.m., officers responded to the area of W 9th Street and Nylic Court in the Willmore City historic district (CD 1/Zendejas) regarding reports of a shooting. They found evidence that a shooting did occur, including bullet casings and parked unoccupied vehicles struck by gunfire. "Through their preliminary investigation, officers learned an unknown male suspect approached a group of subjects standing in the area and shot at them. The suspect and the subjects fled the scene prior to officers arriving." No injuries were reported; a motive for the shooting is unknown and LBPD's investigation is ongoing.

  • On April 25 between 8:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., a shooting occurred near the area of 54th St./Paramount Blvd. The victim said he was in his parked vehicle when two unknown male suspects exited a gray vehicle, shot him and he drove away from the scene, Officers couldn't find a crime scene but found the victim's vehicle and located evidence that a shooting had occurred. The motive for the shooting is unknown; the motive for the shooting isn't known and LBPD's investigation is ongoing,

  • On April 26, at about 3:30 a.m., officers responded to the 1500 block of W 31st St. (south of Silverado Park @ roughly Caspian Ave.) regarding a shots call. Upon arrival, responding officers heard shots nearby [!] and canvassed the area but didn't locate a suspect, victim, or a crime scene. " Officers contacted the reporting party who stated an unknown male suspect discharged a firearm towards the air and fled the scene prior to officers arriving." No injuries were reported; the motive for the shooting is unknown; the investigation is ongoing.

The April 25 shootings occurred in the context of a walk-up shooting that left a man wounded in Signal Hill in the 1900 block of St. Louis Ave. (about a block north of PCH; LBREPORT.com coverage here.)
