(August 29, 2021, 2:10 p.m.) -- Two shooting crime scenes within three hours -- both in the same area and involving an alternation between two women -- left one of the women with minor injuries and a building struck by gunfire in Councilman Al Austin's Grisham area neighborhood ("north of the RR tracks" and west of Long Beach Blvd.) in the 4900 block of Ruth Ave.

A few hours after the second shooting, a man says he was shot in the 200 block of north Pine Ave. in the heart of downtown Long Beach. (LBREPORT.com separate coverage coming.).

Preliminary information below is from LBPD Public Information Officer/LBPD Officer Daisy Paul: A preliminary investigation revealed two women (adults) were in a physical altercation and one of the women produced a firearm and pistol whipped the other woman involved. The suspect fired a gunshot into the ground and fled the scene in a vehicle.

But that wasn't the end of it.

On August 29 at about 12:13 a.m., officers were (again) dispatched to the 4900 block of Ruth Avenue this time regarding a no hit shooting. They found a crime scene and an occupied building struck by gunfire (with no injuries inside.)

The 49 year old female victim from the original incident was located (sustained minor injuries from the first incident) and PIO Paul says the "two incidents were found to be related." Evidence was collected from the scene, including casings, PIO Paul says. The investigation is ongoing.

The three Aug. 28-29 shootings come a day after Aug. 27 gunfire in the 1400 block of Santa Fe Ave. (CD1/Zendejas) that left a man wounded as a result of a suspect firing shots into the air.
