Three More Gunfire Incidents July 4th, and One In Predawn Hours July 5

(July 5, 2021, 8:10 a.m., updated 11:30 a.m. with booking charges) --In addition to the two shootings in the predawn hours July 4 (LBREPORT.com coverage here), Long Beach had three more gunfire incidents July 4th and one in the presawn hours July 5.

LBPD overnight Watch Commander Lt. Stephanie Hall says:

  • On July 4, 2021, at about 5:45 p.m., officers responded to a local hospital regarding a shooting victim. They contacted a male adult with a non-life-threatening injury [no crime scene location provided.] Gang Detectives were notified and the investigation is ongoing.

  • On July 4, 2021, at about 8:45 p.m. officers responded to the 700 block of Orange Ave regarding an individual shooting into the air. Officers located a male adult suspect, arrested him and recovered a gun from the scene. UPDATE: Booking charges includes suspicion of violating CA Penal Code 29800A (felon in possession of firearm) and CPC 3056 (violation of parole), both felonies. [END UPDATE] No injuries were reported and the investigation is ongoing.

  • On July 4, 2021, at about 9:50 p.m. officers responded to the 6400 block of Orange Ave regarding gunfire striking a residence and a vehicle. Based on the officer’s investigation, these incidents were caused by an unknown subject firing a gun into the air. No injuries are reported and the investigation is ongoing.

    On July 5, 2021, at about 1:45 a.m., officers were dispatched to a shooting in the area of Del Amo/Orange Ave. It appears a road rage incident occurred, and the suspect fired a gun at the victim, striking his vehicle. No injuries are reported and the investigation is ongoing.
