  • At 3:15 p.m. update/media briefing, Mayor Garcia takes NO questions. [LBREPORT.com submitted a question in writing for the Mayor that remained unasked and unanswered.]

    Mayor Garcia (who doesn't set city policy) announced the following actions (nearly all city manager, not Mayoral, actions)::

  • Parking ticket fines for street sweeping suspended for a week; street sweeping will still take place.

  • Urges shoppers not to hoard food, says markets are being supplied, no need to panic buy

  • City not closing or reducing resources available to homeless population

  • Discussions will occur [leaves unclear with whom] in the coming days on measures to address economic recovery, paying rent, business assistance and the like.

  • Kelly Colopy, Director of LB Health & Human Services, said LB currently has 5 COVID-19 cases: 3 at home, 2 in stable conditon in local hospitals. Ms. Colopy indicate City isn't currently aware of any cases among homeless but says City is prepared if that happens. Consistent with state guidance, Ms. Colopy encourages all seniors to self-quarantine

    At midmorning CA time, President Trump and White House COVID-19 Task Force held press conference. President Trump called for what amounts to a de facto voluntary payse for at least next 15 days to slow the virus' spread. President Trump said the virus could remain a threat through July-August, which Dr. Anthony Fauci subsequently clarified to indicate the guidelines may not be in effect that long.

    At midday news briefing, L.A. Couny Dept.of Public Health Dir: Barbara Ferrer says If something isn't an essential activity, don't do it.
