March 24 Recap: Four Add'l LA County COVID-19 Deaths, Two CSULB Students Test Positive + CSULB Postponess Commencement Events

  • At Los Angeles County briefing:
  • 4 additional deaths (includes Monday's LB death), 11 total LA County deaths;
  • 128 new cases, total now 662, over last 48 hrs 256 new cases
  • 42% of those testing positive are ages 18-48; 39% of those testing positive are ages 41-65
  • About 18% of those testing positive have at some point been hospitalized
  • As of March 23, roughly 5,700 in LA County have been tested, about 10% were positive

  • Long Beach updated figures:

  • 7 new cases, to date 28 positive results (includes 1 CSULB student; the other wasn't a LB resident); 5 recovered, 1 death (Mar. 23, woman in her 50's w/ underlying health issues)

  • Temporary medical facility for non-COVID-19 patients under construction (in partnership with LB Health Department) at Port of Long Beach’s former Sea Launch facility.
