(December 29, 2000) LBPD reports a 17 year woman was shot to death, and her 15 year old sister and another 17 year old were shot and wounded, in the area of 9th and Elm on Thursday night, December 28. The victims were all LB residents.

Police responded to a "shots fired" call at about 10:00 p.m. and found the three victims shot multiple times. Officers say the three were talking in front of an apartment building when a suspect approached, made a statement in regards to a gang and then opened fired with what police called an assault type weapon. Police did not suggest any of the victims were involved with any gang.

The three victims were transported to local hospitals. The 17 year old woman died from her wounds. Her sister and the other 17 year old (also an LB resident) received numerous gunshot wounds in the arm and leg and were reported in stable condition on Friday by police.
