Gunfire Flies On E. Anaheim St. Sunday Nite Just West of Temple Ave., Hits Vehicle, Misses Man Sitting Inside

(July 6, 2015, 14:55 a.m.) -- Gunfire flew and hit a vehicle -- but missed a man (adult) sitting inside the vehicle on E. Anaheim St. just west of Temple Ave. on Sunday night (July 5.) The no-hit shooting came as LBPD was responding to a double-shooting -- in which two men were hit -- a little over two miles west in the 1400 block of Chestnut Ave. (just north of Anaheim St.) [LBREPORT.com coverage here.]

LBPD Watch Commander Lt. Mark Coble tells LBREPORT.com that Sunday's no-hit shooting occurred in the 2700 block of E. Anaheim St. at about 10:30 p.m. on July 5. No person was hit but a vehicle was struck.

A little less than 24 hours earlier, two people -- and man and a woman -- were shot and wounded in the area of 10th St./Lewis Ave.

And on July 2, a 14 year old boy was shot and wounded in the 1000 block of Chestnut Ave., roughly four blocks south of the July 5 crime scene.

Since Jan. 1, 2015, the 1st Council district has had 8 non-fatal shootings (9 if one counts a shooting on the border of district 2)...in addition to three fatal shootings in June (after no fatal shootings from Jan-June 2015.) The district has been represented by Councilwoman Lena Gonzalez since mid-July 2014, and was previously represented by now-Mayor Robert Garcia since May 2009..
