(Sept. 5, 2021, 8:20 a.m.) -- Gunfire struck an apartment building in the 1400 block of E. South St. shortly before midnight Sept 4-5.

LBPD overnight Watch Commander Lt. Paul Esko says the shooting struck a nearby apartment building in the 1400 block of E. South St. (border of CD 8/Austin-CD 9/Richardson.) Assuming it was an occupied residential building, if the rounds were "maliciously and willfully discharged" at the building it is an extremely dangerous and serious felony (246 PC.)

No persons were hit and LBPD's investigation is ongoing.

The shooting took place about six hours after a man and woman were shot to death near Drake Park (CD1/Zendejas)

That followed a double-victim shooting at Market/Orange (CD 8/Austi) that left a man and his son in critical condition after they were struck when buying goods at a fruit stand.

A few hours later, police says gunfire in Belmont Shore (CD3/Price) struck a parked vehicle in the area of Roycroft Ave./Ocean Blvd.
