(April 3, 2007) -- Cal State University management & the union representing facultymembers today (April 3) announced a tentative agreement which includes a 20.7% base pay increase over a four-year period plus "step increases" for eligible faculty making the package worth 24.87%.
In a written release, CSU says the base salary increases ("General Salary Increases") will now raise the average salary for a tenure track faculty member from $74,000 to $90,749 and the average salary for a full time, full professor with tenure from $86,000 to $105,465 by the end of the contract period.
The total pay package, which will cost CSU more than $400 million over four years, comes just weeks after CSU Trustees (policysetting body for CSU management) approved a 10% hike in student fees.
If the membership of the California Faculty Ass'n ratifies the deal negotiated by its union leadership, it will then be submitted to the CSU Board of Trustees for approval.
