(August 14, 2002) -- At 12:54 p.m. on Tuesday Aug. 13, LBPD responded to a shooting in the 200 block of E. 68th St. in the 9th Council district.
Police found 38-year old Freddie Williams, Jr., a LB resident, lying in the front of his residence with a gunshot wound to his head. LBFD transported him to a local hospital where he died.
LBPD says its preliminary investigation indicates Mr. Williams was talking to two men in his front yard when one of the men allegedly pulled out a handgun and shot him in the head.
Both suspects fled on foot. Police describe them as Black males, 20-25 years old. The motive for the shooting is unknown. Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call Homicide Detectives Richard Conant or Robert Erickson at (562) 570-7244.
