(August 11, 2005) -- In a brazen late afternoon crime in Bixby Knolls, two girls allegedly robbed a supermarket of merchandise in the 4500 block of Atlantic Ave...and one made her escape in a car driven by an adult woman.
LBPD Public Information Officer Israel Ramirez says the store's security (loss prevention) personnel noticed two girls filling hand-held baskets with personal items...and the girls allegedly exited the store without paying for them.
When security staff pursued the pair, one girl allegedly jumped in a waiting car driven by an adult woman...who allegedly accelerated, ran over security officer's foot/leg, failed to stop and drove off. The other girl (age 16 from Compton) was apprehended, booked and taken to a juvenile facility.
LBPD says the incident is under investigation. Police ask persons who witnessed what took place to call LBPD Juvenile Detectives at (562) 570-1425.
