Got E-Waste (Computer/Electronic Junk)? Dispose Of It At E-Waste Collection, El Dorado Senior Center, Sat. Aug 25, 1-4 p.m And Attend Free Tech Fair

(August 24, 2007) -- If you've got e-waste -- old computers, fax machines, other electronic junk -- taking up space in your garage or closet, get rid of it safely and free on Saturday, Aug. 25 from 1-4 p.m. at the El Dorado Senior Center, 2800 Studebaker Rd...and attend a free "tech fair" with experts on computers and connecting to the web.

5th district Councilwoman Gerrie Schipske -- ELB's blog-writing, internet-respecting computer-savvyCouncil rep -- and the Teachers Ass'n of LB are co-sponsoring a "Back to School Tech Fair and E-Waste Collection" -- letting residents safely dispose of their e-waste (computers, fax/answering machines, monitors/TVs) and learn about the latest computer gizmos, programs and connections via specialists from Circuit City, Charter Communications and Verizon.

"They'll also bring computer packages which will be offered at a discount for attendees," says Councilwoman Schipske's office in a release.

LBPD speakers will also present tips for parents on how to keep kids safe on the internet...including a special presentation for teachers given by Antonio De La Luz, from the Teachers Association of Long Beach, who'll demonstrate on-line resources for teachers.

E-waste will be collected by Goodwill Industries.

    Sat. Aug. 25, 1-4 p.m.
