(December 24, 2002) -- At midday on Christmas eve, alert LBPD east division patrol officers recognized a vehicle description related to a Bixby Knolls video store burglary (area Roosevelt Rd. and LB Blvd.) and stopped the vehicle in a quiet, ELB residential neighborhood near Pageantry St. and Charlamagne Ave. (b/w Bellflower Blvd. and Clark Ave., north of Spring St.).
One suspect tried to flee...but didn't get far.
In a police response that a LBReport.com reader in the area described as fast and effective, officers assisted by a helicopter unit set up a perimeter, collared the fleeing suspect...and took a second suspect into custody.
LBPD Public Information Officer Greg Schirmer noted the arrests resulted from combined work by LBPD east and north divisions.
[LBReport.com comment: We thank the LBPD officers working on Christmas Eve and patroling residential neighborhoods for their solid police work.]
