(Dec. 18, 2009) -- As of midmorning today (Dec. 18), spokespersons for the LBPD, the L.A. County District Attorney's office cite an ongoing investigation and have no further information to release regarding law enforcement actions carried out yesterday (Dec. 17) at some LB marijuana outlets.
LBPD Public Information Officer Nancy Pratt says that agency has nothing further to add at this time to what it said publicly yesterday, to wit: officers from LBPD's Drug Enforcement Section acted in relation to complaints received from members of the community and conducted enforcement action at a number of locations regarding alleged illegal over the counter sales of marijuana...and LBPD has been working with the L.A. County District Attorney's office on these cases and will be proceding accordingly.
LA County DA spokesperson Jane Robison confirms that the DA's office is working with LBPD but says the actions are part of an ongoing investigation and the DA's office has nothing further to release at this time.
Are the feds involved? Sarah Pullen, Special Agent with the DEA said last night (Dec. 17) emailed that she didn't have any information on the story and referred us back to LBPD.
One of the locations involved was on 4th St. on near Elm Ave. An individual told us yesterday that he was nearby during most of the day said law enforcement was visible at the location from at least midmorning into the afternoon. [Press-Telegram reporter Tracy Manzer has separately reported that LBPD acknowledged law enforcement activity at that location.]
When we arrived at approximately 4 p.m., the outlet's blinds were drawn and we couldn't see inside.
Further as we learn it.
