(February 23, 2003, posted at 8:10 p.m.) -- A 21 year old man shot tonight at 8th St. and Gardenia Ave. (border of 2d and 4th Council districts).

Details are sketchy as we post.

LBPD says the victim, a male Asian, was standing on the southeast corner of 8th & Gardenia at roughly 6:45 p.m. and was approached by a male Hispanic who asked where he was from. The victim began to walk away when the suspect opened fire on him.

The suspect is described as a 20-24 year old male Hispanic.

The victim was transported to a local hospital and reported in stable condition as we post as breaking news.
