(February 13, 2004) -- 6th district Councilwoman Laura Richardson has been named by the Baptist Ministers’ Conference of Los Angeles and Southern California as a recipient of the prestigious President's California Empowerment Award.

In a written release, Councilwoman Richardson's office indicates the award is in recognition of outstanding accomplishments and notable contributions to the community, and the Councilwoman will be among many honored in a February 16 ceremony at at L.A.'s Mount Moriah Baptist Church.

"I am honored to receive this prestigious award from the Baptist Ministers’ Conference of Los Angeles and Southern California. Their commitment to community service and spiritual uplifting have enhanced the quality of life for the residents of our region, and I am humbled to be considered among the honorees," Councilwoman Richardson said.
