News Suspect In 10th/Redondo Area "Cat Burglaries" Turns Himself In
(February 8, 2006) -- LBPD says a suspect sought in connection with a series of "cat burglaries" (a burglary while the resident is at home) in the area of 10th St. and Redondo Ave. has turned himself in.
Cruz Aguirre appeared at LBPD's downtown HQ this morning (Feb. 8), was booked and will be interviewed, LBPD Public Information Officer Jason Wong told LBReport.com.
LBPD says that from January 23, 2006, to February 1, 2006 there were six reported incidents involving cat burglaries in the area. In an number of the incidents, the perpetrator entered through an unlocked door or window.
LBPD takes the opportunity to remind the public to take the following precautions:
- Install effective locks on all doors and windows - and USE them.
- During night hours, your entire property (walkways, porches, doorways garages, car ports, etc.) should be well lit.
- Trim trees and shrubs near your doors and windows.
- If you come home and find a door or window open or any signs of forced entry - don't go in! Go to the nearest phone and call the police.
