    Now It's Double-Murder (2200 block E. Del Amo) As 2nd Shooting Victim Dies


    (March 1, 2009, updated further) -- Now it's a double-murder.

    Following-up on a story reported first by LBReport.com, a fight between two groups of people off the 2200 block of Del Amo Blvd. (just east of Cherry Ave., barely a block from the Lakewood city line) turned into a double-shooting...and both shooting victims have now died.

    LBPD says in a release:

    On Sunday, March 01, 2009 at approximately 2:00 p.m., officers responded to the 2000 block of Del Amo Blvd. regarding a fight in an alley between several individuals.

    When officers arrived on scene they discovered two shooting victims. The preliminary investigation revealed that two groups of males were engaged in a fight. Shots were fired from one group into the next group striking two adult males.

    One victim was pronounced deceased at the scene and the second victim died a short time later after being transported to a local hospital by paramedics.

    Homicide Detectives responded to the scene and believe this incident may be gang-related. There is no suspect information available at this time and the investigation is ongoing.

    LBPD asks anyone who may have witnessed or has information regarding this crime to contact Homicide Detectives Bryan McMahon or Patrick O'Dowd at (562) 570-7244 immediately.
