Yikes! LB Cops Serving Anti-Gang Injunction Uncover Weapons Cache In LB Neighborhood
(January 5, 2005) -- LBPD officers serving an anti-gang injunction in WLB discovered the sort of thing one might expect in parts of Baghdad: a weapons cache and ammunition.
Police found a submachine gun, two assault rifles, one sawed-off shotgun, one sawed off 22-caliber rifle, three handguns, a large amount of ammunition and three bulletproof vests...plus an item not widely reported in Baghdad: one pound of methamphetamine. | LBPD Photo |
LBPD Photo | LBPD says its officers were serving an injunction obtained by LB City Prosecutor Tom Reeves, prohibiting active members of the West Side Longos street gang from engaging in certain activities within a specified area. |
While delivering the court-sanctioned paperwork to a residence in the 1500 block of West 23d St., the West Division officers' investigation led to a search of the residence, which resulted in the discovery of the weapons and narcotics.
Four men and two women, ranging in ages from 22 to 32, were taken into custody.

The weapons and narcotics are now in the LBPD's evidence room...instead of in a LB neighborhood.
