    Murder/Stabbing, 6th St. west of MLK-Alamitos

(July 24, 2003) -- A LB resident was killed and two other LB residents in an stabbing attack in the 900 block of E. 6th St., just west of MLK/Alamitos and not far from St. Anthony's church in the 1st Council district.

LBPD says that after responding on July 23 at roughly 11:55 p.m., its investigation revealed that several male Hispanic suspects entered a courtyard, confronted one of the victims and a friend...and a fight ensued resulting in the stabbing of three victims.

Police say 53-year old Alvaro Soto died as result of his injuries, a 43 year old LB man was in critical condition, and a 22-year old LB man was in stable condition.

The suspects were last seen driving away from the scene.

Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to call LBPD Homicide Detectives Richard Birdsall or Scott Lasch at (562) 570-7244.
