(July 19, 2005) -- Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has named Dr. Craig Smith, who chairs CSULB's Dept. of Film and Electronic Arts, to the California State University Board of Trustees.
Smith, 60, has been a professor with the University since 1988, during which he's chaired the Communications Studies, Journalism and Comparative Literature and Classics Departments.
CSU's Board of Trustees governs the University, adopting rules, regulations and policies. It meets seven times a year. Its incumbent members include SCE President Robert Foster (whose term expires in 2006).
Prof. Smith's appointment doesn't require Senate confirmation. It pays $100 per diem.
