Armed Robbery Area Spring/Palo Verde Sparks High Speed Chase Thru ELB, NLB; LBPD Nabs Three Suspects w/ Three Guns...& Stolen Loot

(June 7, 2003, posted at 10:30 p.m.) -- An early evening armed robbery to a video store in the 6500 block of E. Spring St. sparked a high adrenaline, high speed chase through parts of ELB, ending with LBPD taking three suspects -- with three guns -- into custody in NLB.

Details are sketchy as we make this initial post.

LBPD Public Information Officer Jana Blair tells LBReport.com that officers responded to scene as the suspects were exiting the back door.

Officers gave chase and the suspects refused to yield, triggering a pursuit that in part led north on Woodruff Ave., west on Del Amo, and ended in the area of Orizaba Ave. and 62d St. when a suspect fled the vehicle. That suspect was caught after a foot pursuit...and two other suspects surrendered at the vehicle.

LBPD recovered three guns...as well as the stolen loot.

LBReport.com saw part of LBPD's fast response firsthand; while walking our dog in ELB, we saw officers wrapping up a minor traffic accident depart at high speed, part of the successful blitz-type response.

As of this initial posting, it's uncertain if some of the suspects are juveniles; further to follow as newsworthy.
