(June 24, 2003) -- Making a swift arrest in a horrifying crime, LB Police Chief Anthony Batts has announced that LBPD has taken into custody a Compton man in connection with the fatal shooting of a mother and the wounding of her son while mom was driving in the area of Alamitos Ave. and 15th St.

Suspect Jones has been arrested for the murder of Ms. Miller and the attempted murder of her son.

Police also said they've arrested seven other persons for various charges that LBPD came in into contact with during their investigation...although not necessarily involved in the homicide. Police were tight lipped about specifics for the moment...but indicated LBPD Homicide and Gang Detectives are continuing their investigation and their interviews.

In a release issued shortly after the June 22 Sunday night crime, LBPD said it had worked throughout the night, was questioning witnesses and possible suspects...and vowed its Detectives would continue their work until all suspects involved in the case were taken into custody.

Less than 24 hours later, LBPD had a suspect in custody.
